The Journey
Makes Its Way
into the Public
Sphere

We promoted communication initiatives with innovative approaches aimed at transforming narratives around reproductive rights. We adapted to changes in the digital ecosystem and implemented strategies to strengthen and expand the reach of our content.

Campaigns

Abortitlán. A campaign whose objective is to propose and make visible the possibility of an environment in which abortion can be carried out without fear, without judgment, and without sanctions. Through a fresh and provocative narrative, it questions the established and traditional imaginaries associated with abortion, and puts forward a vision of the future based on the recognition and full exercise of the reproductive autonomy of all people. It reached more than 4.5 million people on social media and more than 12,000 people accessed the website.

Within the framework of September 28th, Global Day of Action for Legal, Safe, and Accessible Abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Abortitlán advertising video was launched on social media and YouTube, garnering more than half a million views. Subsequently, this video and three other shorts were presented as part of two events within the framework of September 28th held with the National Youth Institute, the Simone de Beauvoir Leadership Institute, and Catholics for the Right to Choose, with the aim of spreading information and eliminating abortion stigma in younger populations.

Movement for Access to Abortion. The campaign’s objective is to share with authorities and decision-makers the necessary actions to guarantee voluntary abortion services, as well as institutional barriers to access. Also, to disseminate information about reproductive rights and standards of care when requesting an abortion. In 2025 it reached more than 3.5 million people; despite algorithmic censorship on the social network X, it managed to position itself on other networks thanks to our creativity and strategic vision to influence digital ecosystems.

Networks and Inclusion

We turned social media into a space for conversation, information, and advocacy. We posted a total of 968 pieces of content and reached a total of 24,027,743 people on Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok. In addition, 113,801 people accessed our website and interacted with our content.

To strengthen our commitment to equality and inclusion, we have carried out a series of technical, design, and style changes so that our website meets the highest accessibility standards. As a complement to this work, a widget was installed that facilitates navigation on our website for people with disabilities and contains the following functions: highlight links, larger text, text spacing, line height, and cursor. Actions like this help reduce communication barriers and ensure that our information is available to all people under equal conditions.

Media

We offered journalistically valuable content and recommendations for coverage with a human rights focus and gender perspective through the GIREPRESS newsletter, aimed at journalists and media outlets. With the aim of providing inputs for narrative change on topics related to reproductive justice, we sent 11 bulletins to a base of more than 400 members of national and international media, thereby strengthening and expanding alliances with these key actors.

We had more than 700 mentions in media outlets, of which 66 were interviews. Abortion, obstetric violence, surrogacy, adolescent pregnancy, and maternal death were the most covered topics, confirming that GIRE continues to be a reference point in the public debate on reproductive justice in Mexico.

Punto (G)IRE is a space in the Animal Político portal where, each week, a text related to reproductive justice and other relevant human rights topics is published. Its goal is to disseminate the organization’s work, contribute to public debate, and strengthen the defense of the reproductive rights of women and people with gestational capacity. This year we published a total of 46 texts, most of them on abortion and reproductive justice.

Lemon is a space within our website that aims to reach diverse audiences: young people, women, and people with gestational capacity of reproductive age, and those seeking information about feminism who, through these publications, can approach topics related to human rights and reproductive rights. This year we published a total of ten texts that addressed topics of health, cinema, sports, and discourses circulating on social media, among others.
